Age calculation can vary across cultures. This calculator uses the most common system, where age increases on a person's birthday. For example, if someone is 3 years and 11 months old, their age will increase to 4 on their next birthday. In some cultures, age may include or exclude the current year. In one traditional Chinese system, a person is born at age 1, and their age increases on the Chinese New Year, not their birthday. The calculator may show slightly different results when dates fall at the end of a month, due to the varying number of days in months. For example, the period from February 28 to March 31 could be counted as either one month or one month and 3 days, depending on the method used. We follow the first method in our calculations.
